The Chapel Street bar is one of the town’s oldest public houses, and its traditional interior makes a good location for quiet mid-week drinks or weekend merriment.
Fresh food using locally-sourced ingredients is served at lunchtime and during the evening, and an updated Saturday breakfast menu was recently launched.
Steaks, burgers and pies are some of the favourite dishes on the menu, with other classics including sausages and apple mash, chilli con carne and all-day breakfasts.
Food is served from noon until 3pm Monday to Friday, between 6pm and 10pm on Thursday and 6pm until 9pm on Friday.
On Saturday, food is available all day from 9am until 7pm, and on Sunday the kitchens are open between noon and 6pm.
A large courtyard is heated during the winter and fully covered, and there is a patio for the summer months which can be reserved for larger parties.
Weekly promotions at the bar include student nights on Monday, two-for-one offers on cocktails on Tuesday and live DJs on Friday and Saturday evenings.
