Pete Firman joins Jimmy Carr, Russell Kane et al in Aldershot

January 11, 2012

One would have thought that Aldershot is determined to become the Edinburgh of the south, at least when it comes to comedy.

The town’s two main entertainment venues, Princes Hall and West End Centre, are hosting an amazing array of the funniest acts in the country this coming season. The West End Centre boasts a lavish line-up for the new year, featuring an eclectic mix of music, comedy and theatre.

British Blues duo Paul Jones and Dave Kelly take to the stage on Wednesday January 11, and ex-England and Surrey cricketer Mark Butcher joins guitarist Matt Taylor for a performance of soul classics on Saturday January 21.

Award-winning comedian Mitch Benn leads his touring band in a spoof song show on Wednesday February 22, before rising comedy talent Elis James brings his freewheeling storytelling tour to the stage on Friday February 24.

The line-up also includes favourites from the Edinburgh Festival such as stand-up comedian Andrew Lawrence, on Friday January 27, and Pete Firman, whose Jiggery Pokery tour arrives for one night only on Saturday February 18.

Meanwhile the Princess Hall Theatre welcomes an array of comedy characters during the coming months.

A sell-out preview show from Jimmy Carr acts as the curtain raiser on Friday March 2, before the riotous Russell Kane, host of ITV 2 show I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now, takes to the floor with his Manscaping show on Thursday March 8.

London lad Lee Nelson, star of Live at the Apollo and a recent BBC3 screen sensation, promises storming stand-up on Friday March 16, ahead of a return visit from one-line wonder Tim Vine on Wednesday March 21.

Outspoken stand-up Roy ‘Chubby’ Brown and Dave Gorman, creator of the Gogglewhack Adventure, are also set to perform at the theatre during May.

For further information about these events, contact the Princes Hall Theatre on 01252 329155 and the West End Centre on 01252 330040.
