Do you fancy going out for a meal but can’t decide whether to go for Indian, Chinese, Malaysian, Singapore or Thai?
Well, if you still can’t make up your mind, why not go for all five? At AM you can do just that as it offers over 50 different varieties of oriental food from the above exotic countries.
This authentic ‘eat as much as you like’ buffet style restaurant has been open in Victoria Road, Aldershot since 2003 and has proved to be as popular as ever. It’s ideal for any occasion serving a wide range of freshly cooked dishes using a variety of herbs and spices to suit any palate. Plus, if you need to eat and run, you can be in and out in under an hour and still have had a super meal.
Inside the mature Victorian building the restaurant has been decorated using bright and vibrant colours, yellow and green, which makes the room light, airy and welcoming, therefore creating an inviting atmosphere. The seating area’s were well spaced out over two levels and the bar, near the entrance, serves a variety of soft and alcoholic drinks as well as coffee.
I was very much looking forward to dining at AM and as my husband couldn’t make it; I enjoyed the company of my sister, Tara and my two children, Conor and Cameron.
Living in Aldershot makes AM the ideal choice of restaurant as it is local to us and serves the most amazing food. Diners travel from all over Hampshire and Surrey to feast on a mouth-watering array of dishes this restaurant has to offer and it gives you the opportunity of experimenting with different tastes, flavours and regions of oriental cuisine. It is also great for families with young children who want to experiment with different food cultures.
On entering AM, we were greeted by the manager of six months, Sapan Pradhan who showed us to our table which was located towards the rear of the restaurant.
Once seated, we ordered some drinks, and, as we were frequent visitors to AM, understood that we had to help ourselves to cutlery, napkins, condiments and a plate and then make our way to the ‘starters’ section of the buffet which offered a delicious selection of appetisers such as sesame prawns on toast, chicken and sweetcorn soup, chicken satay (with satay sauce), spare ribs plus a selection of crisp freshly prepared salad. We filled our plates with our variety of appetisers and then returned to our table to enjoy it.
Once our plates were empty, the efficient staff promptly removed them and we could then go back up to enjoy the superb assortment of main courses. Having too many to list, the variety of oriental dishes on offer were immense such as crispy beef, chicken korma, Chinese style chicken curry, crispy duck with pancakes, lamb curry and shrimp.

To accompany our meal a variety of vegetable, rice and noodle dishes were on offer as well as Bombay potatoes, prawn crackers, popadoms and a choice of sauces such as plum, satay or sweet and sour – definately something for everyone. We all thoroughly enjoyed our choice of dishes and went back for a second helping!
The range of food alters on a regular basis to ensure variety and the experienced chef’s have all been trained in oriental cuisine ensuring the dishes are cooked to perfection.
We dined mid week and the restaurant was very busy indeed but that didn’t stop the current flow of staff re-filling each container as soon as it was empty. Plates and some cutlery were also running low but again were quickly replenished by the experienced and eagle eyed staff.
Once you have finished sampling the exotic dishes and, if you can manage to eat anything else, you can finish your meal with fresh fruit, a bowl of jelly, a choice of Gateaux, flavoured ice cream or perhaps just a cup of coffee. Myself and Tara declined on dessert but the boys decided on lots of ice cream.
