Q&A with Palm ReaderBy Jake Ben-David
January 23, 2013
WOKING-BASED Palm Reader are joining their Surrey hardcore counterparts, Polar, on a UK tour this February.
Guitarist Andy chats to us about European tours, marrying celebrities and the epiphany experienced when first hearing Blue by Eiffel 65.
You are named Palm Reader. Have you ever had your own palms read?
Yes. I read my own palm once. It was printed in braille. It said I need to moisturise....
Two of the band are named Josh. Does this cause untold confusion and never ending hilarity between the band?
Actually, we're not really a funny band. The two Josh's are both like the kid at school with the dodgy name - they become an instant target for ridicule and ripe for picking on, which comes as second nature.
You have just announced a European tour for this April. Do you think the European audience will be able to handle your stage antics?
Honestly I don't think the European audiences will have seen this much destruction and carnage since... Eurovision! What were you thinking of? You people jump the gun way too quickly.
If each band member had to marry a celebrity, who would they choose?
Josh - Donatella Versace. If brown pleather is your thing, you'll understand.
Sam - The ginger one from Sex and the City. You know, the one whose face looks like it's been pulled over a knee.
Andy - Jackie Stallone. So hot and such good genes!
Josh R - Any of the cast of Twilight.
Dan - Hillary Clinton, although it would be frowned upon as they're actually related, haha!
Finally, which artist has influenced your sound more: Botch or Eiffel 65?
Definitely Eiffel 65. That tune, Blue, changed our way of thinking about music. Total game changer. Botch? Pffft. Yeah, they had their thing and some people liked it but what hope did they have against the vocal auto-tuned wizardry of the Italian stallion trio? None. Just none.
