Turn up the volume for Mirimar

THE Mirimar Disaster hit the road this autumn stopping at Aldershot’s West End Centre on October 18.
Sheffield’s epic titans make a welcome return to action with the recent release of their new mini-album Volumes, out on the Undergroove label.
Following on from their critically acclaimed self-titled debut, Volumes is the band’s statement of intent for the year 2008 and beyond.
Produced by Jason Sanderson, Volumes is a pile-driving riff-hungry monster. Captured for the first time in the confines of a studio, Volumes truly reflects the band’s already lethal live performances that have enthralled audiences across the board.
Since 2007 the band have toured the UK and played shows with the likes of Genghis Tron, 65daysofstatic, Will Haven, Arch Enemy, Mastodon, The Ghost Of A Thousand, Devil Sold His Soul and Textures, to name but a few.
It’s been an interesting ride for the quartet, who saw the exit of original singer, Ian ‘Stocky’ Stockdale, only months after the release of their debut album.
Although it was a curious departure, the band cited it as the only way The Mirimar Disaster could continue to evolve and grow.
Now with guitarist Frank Forman stepping into the forefront, backed as always by drummer Iain ‘Slomo’ Scott, the re-invented quartet are clearly stronger and more confident than ever.
And now having convinced audiences in a live setting, this line-up is clearly the right line-up: Volumes is testament to a band whose hunger, creative focus and determination are second to none.
The Mirimar Disaster will be supported by Kruger and Guests at their gig in Aldershot. Tickets are £6 and are available from www.wegottickets.com
