Yateley's Gig on the Green aims for bigger crowd
By Tim TonkinFebruary 01, 2012
TICKETS for this summer's Gig on the Green in Yateley are now on sale, as organisers promise that this year's show will be even bigger and better.
The music festival, which last year saw 3,500 people turn out on Yateley's green, is hoping to see that number rise to 5,000.
With all the necessary permissions already in place for 2012, Yateley music lovers should make a space in their diaries for June 30.
Colin Ive, who is again helping to organise the event, confirmed that headline acts for this year's festival included a Queen tribute band, The Great Pretender HRH, and a Bon Jovi group, Born to be Jovi.
The festival will again feature most of the original gig's attractions such as the battle of the bands and the Y-Factor competitions, as well as refreshment tents, stalls and children's entertainments.
Mr Ive said the festival would once again be looking to donate proceeds from the day to local sporting clubs and endeavours, having managed to raise £10,500 through last year's gig.
He said that while he was conscious many people were continuing to bear the brunt of a tough economic climate, he was hopeful that the success of 2011's event could once again be replicated, bringing the community together for a day to remember.
He said: "The emphasis is once again going to be on a family fun day and I hope to see an even greater turnout this year.
"We have frozen prices so both early bird and main ticket prices will be the same as last year with under-8s able to attend for free."
