Gunslingin’ Annie headin’ into town

September 19, 2008

“Howdy pardners, come and join us for a gun totin’, rip roarin’, Stetson wearin’ musical feast.”

That’s the invitation from the Princes Hall, Aldershot, to all those who love a good musical and particularly the ones set in the Wild West.

The Farnborough Cody Operatic Society is proud to present its next production – Annie Get Your Gun – at the hall from Monday to Saturday, September 22 to 27.

The story is a classic boy meets girl, then girl loses boy because she “can’t get a man with a gun”.

She joins Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show to find there’s no business like showbusiness and eventually gets lost in his arms – “doin’ what comes naturally!”

You will find with Annie Oakley that “anything you can do, she can do better”.

Annie Get Your Gun is full of fabulous songs, it has spectacle, humour, Red Indians and sharp-shooter contests, so roll up and buy your tickets for the best show in town.

This show is bound to be very popular with the audience, so the venue recommends booking to avoid disappointment.

This production follows a succession of critically acclaimed musicals performed by the Farnborough and Aldershot-based society.

Established for more than 80 years, it is probably one of the largest societies in the area. It was proud to receive the National Operatic and Dramatic Association award for its production of The King and I earlier this year.

Tickets are available for each evening performance of Annie Get Your Gun starting at 7.30pm, and a Saturday matinee starting at 2.30pm.

Contact the Princes Hall box office on 01252 329155. Alternatively, tickets can also be purchased online - visit the website at www.princeshall.com
