Tiger is coming to tea at the Haymarket
20/11/2008
The Tiger Who Came to Tea, based on the book written and illustrated by Judith Kerr (also known for another feline creation, Mog) and adapted for the stage with songs and lyrics by David Wood, comes to The Haymarket, Basingstoke, on Monday, November 24 at 2pm and Tuesday, November 25, at 11am and 2pm.
David Wood OBE is one of the country’s leading writers and directors of plays and musicals for children. His many successes include Fantastic Mr Fox, The Gingerbread Man, BFG, The Witches, Meg and Mog, Spot and Babe the Sheep Pig.
Judith Kerr’s The Tiger Who Came to Tea is one of the best selling and best loved picture books of all time. Since it was first published in 1968, it has sold more than four million copies worldwide in more than 20 different languages.
The doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they don’t expect at the door is a big, furry, stripy tiger.
For the first time, this much loved tale of a tiger creating teatime mayhem is brought vividly to life on stage in a show packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos for children aged three and over.
