THERE'S no escaping the baby transport phenomenon that's hit the streets of Britain.

Open any newspaper or magazine and you will see a variety of three-wheeled pushchairs sported by Hollywood film and popstar parents.

A favourite with Posh and Becks and Elle MacPherson, these pushchairs are fashionable yet practical. They not only look super-hip, they also offer superb manoeuvrability and advantages both on and off the road and have totally revolutionised the baby transport experience for parents and babies.

Mothercare's transport experts have combined their technical know-how with the company's great value promises to develop Urban Detour, their most innovative and extensive choice of three-wheelers. Scooping a number of awards, their success and popularity has led to an updated Urban Detour range for 2002.

The Arctic, Glacier, Pinnacle and Alpine are all suitable from birth and each are tailored to a varying degree of needs. Stylish, sporty and packed with features, they perform well in the city and country.

Each has air-filled tyres for a comfy ride, come with a handy tyre pump and quick release removable rear wheels for convenient storage. The distinctive multi-position padded seats are suitable for babies when awake or sleeping, and all come with a large shopping basket.

Arctic (£79.99) is the most basic of the range, easy and compact to fold and great for the car and public transport.

Glacier (£129) is great for all conditions and is easy to use in every respect.

Pinnacle (£179) is the crème de la crème of the Urban Detour range and was awarded the 2001-2002 Gold Award for Best All-Terrain Pushchair by Mother and Baby Magazine. It is a deluxe three-wheeler constructed with premium fabrics.

Alpine Twin (£199), pictured, is for baby twins or two children of different ages.

Choosing the right pushchair should never be a snap decision, which is why Mothercare always encourages parents to spend time reviewing requirements, using the advice of specially trained store staff or asking for its literature provided to help make the decision appropriate for both lifestyle and budget.
