Organisers are hoping business owners in north east Hampshire will be inspired to triumph in an awards scheme, with only a week to go before the entry deadline.

The Inspire Business Awards is an annual competition which celebrates the success and achievement of all types of businesses across north Hampshire - including Rushmoor and Hart.

Organised and managed by Destination Basingstoke, the awards ceremony will this year be held in the Hart district at the Devere Highfield Park, near Hook, on Thursday November 13.

More than 600 people representing 180 businesses attended last year's sell-out awards ceremony, and this year it is hoped that more businesses from the News&Mail area will enter than ever before, with the competition previously being dominated by Basingstoke businesses.

“The Inspire Business Awards 2014 promise to be bigger and better than ever,” said Felicity Edwards, managing director of Destination Basingstoke. “They offer a great way for businesses to raise their profile this year and for future years.”

Award sponsors include both Hart District and Rushmoor Borough councils.

Councillor Ken Muschamp, cabinet member for business, safety and regulation at Rushmoor, said: “The awards showcase business excellence and are a fantastic, high-profile way for leading businesses and their employees to get the recognition they deserve.

“We have many great businesses in Aldershot and Farnborough and I would like to encourage as many of them as possible to enter."

Cllr Ken Crookes, leader of Hart District Council, said: “I strongly encourage all business, small and large, to take part in this year’s event.”

As well as being an exciting evening, the awards ceremony is a good chance to network and make contacts.

Kirsty Ewart, general manager of Devere Highfield Park, said: “We are delighted to have been selected to host the Inspire Business Awards. It is a great accolade to showcase our venue to so many successful businesses from across the region and we look forward to celebrating with them in November.”

It is free to enter any of the 13 categories, ranging from Best Small Business and Young Business Person to Entrepreneur of the Year and Best Employer. The closing date for entries is August 15 and judging, including a visit to the business, takes place in September.

Two complimentary tickets to the November ceremony are provided to each shortlisted business, others can be ordered.
