MARKS & Spencer has opened a new Simply Food store in Fleet.

Hart Council chairman Jonathan Glen cut the ribbon to open the store last week.

The 1,900sq-ft store, which has created 30 jobs and is open 87 hours a week, features 1,200 items including ready meals, sandwiches, salads, flowers and wine.

Store manager Jim Howard said: “We know many of our existing shoppers as well as new customers, want to be able to buy Marks and Spencer food more regularly, more easily and more locally.

“Our new small format Simply Food stores are designed to make the very best food ranges more accessible to customers, coupled with longer opening hours. We are confident Fleet shoppers will be pleased with the new store.”

Mrs Collen said: “We are delighted to welcome Marks & Spencer to Fleet and I am sure the increased footfall will benefit the whole town.

“The store is clean, bright and friendly. It is also well stocked with a wide range of goods.”
