A young carpet fitter’s fruitless job search 15 years ago laid the foundations for the UK’s biggest job board.

CV-Library, based in Fleet , was founded in 2000 by Lee Biggins, who has been nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year at this year’s Inspire Business Awards .

From identifying a need for an easy-to-use job board benefiting both job hunters and recruiters, to now running a candidate database with more than 9.3 million CVs, the company is going from strength to strength.

To gain experience in the industry and to ensure he could make the company the best it could be, Mr Biggins worked in a recruitment agency, allowing him to learn the ropes and ensure that he fully understood the sector.

“When I look at how much CV-Library has grown since its birth, I can’t believe how far it has come,” he said.

“I’m honoured to have made the shortlist for such a prestigious award, and it’s especially touching to be recognised as a local entrepreneur.

“We’re excited to see what heights the business will reach in the future; by continuing to use innovative new strategies, we aim to keep the recruitment journey fresh and exciting.”

CV-Library now works with more than 10,000 recruiters and is able to dwarf offerings from rivals, with jobs from a variety of sectors.

Mr Biggins has once again put his entrepreneurial skills to work, recently launching CV-Library’s sister company, Resume-Library, in the USA.

He is no stranger to awards.

CV-Library has racked up more than 50 over 15 years, including Inspire’s ‘Business of the Year’ award in 2012.
