Held at the Princes Hall in Aldershot, the event aimed to provide local businesses with an opportunity to make a fixed appointment with representatives from the purchasing teams of large businesses — something that small businesses in particular would normally find very difficult to achieve.

Angie Ritchie of Mailboxes booked ten appointments on the day: "I would never have dreamt of approaching those large organisations myself. The potential for new business is very good."

Almost 300 appointments were arranged with some of the area's largest organisations, including BAe Systems, Zurich Municipal, Pavilion Housing, Charters Peugeot, London and Cambridge Property, Perei Group, Upgrade Options, local authorities and the Ministry of Defence.

John Mitchell, chief executive of Blackwater Valley Enterprise, said: "This is the first time we have staged such an event in the area and, having received such positive feedback, we intend to make this a regular event, bringing local purchasers and suppliers together."

The event was primarily funded through the European Konver fund in association with Rushmoor Council and Hampshire County Council.

Other sponsorship came from Hart Council, Business Link and Surrey County Council.
