Some small firms in Surrey and north-east Hampshire work as hard on their name as they do on their products, and now an app provider is searching for the nation's 'punniest' business moniker.

The Small Business Pun of the Year 2015 awards are being run by 'build-your-own-app' service, Appsme.com.

The awards are aiming to find the shop or small business with the most side-splitting name.

Business owners and members of the public can nominate their best small business pun by sharing a photo of the shop or business sign on the Appsme blog, or post a picture and/or the business's details on Twitter or Instagram, using the #SmallBizPun hashtag.

Nick Barnett, CEO at Appsme, said: "We help small businesses market themselves by allowing them to create powerful mobile apps and, through this, we've seen how creative British entrepreneurs are when it comes to naming their business."

The closing date for entries is Sunday June 7 2015 and the winner will be chosen by a panel of branding experts, trade journalists and the Appsme team.

The winning business will receive an Apple Watch, a trophy and a suite of productivity apps to help them run their business on the go.

Whoever nominates the winner will also be presented with their own Apple Watch.
