Frogmore Community College (Specialist Technology School 11 to 18)

January 12, 2006

Frogmore Community College is well-established and highly regarded and benefits from an open and spacious site.

The students enjoy excellent facilities and resources.

Many rooms are fitted with the latest interactive technology; there is a state-of-the-art Design and Technology Suite, opened last September, and extensive ICT provision throughout the College.

The curriculum is broad, balanced and relevant and enhanced by several immersion days for different year groups on activities related to enterprise education, financial capability and citizenship.

Homework is set from Year Seven, and independent study is further supported with the College's affiliation to SAM learning (a subjectbased learning facility) and through information and support published on the college website.

Frogmore has a very good reputation for the extent and nature of its partnership and communication with parents.

They receive regular, comprehensive reports, and there are both form tutor and subject teacher consultation sessions for each year group.

Ensuring that students are safe, healthy and happy is of paramount importance at the College.

In addition to structured welfare and guidance systems and procedures, it has a permanent Welfare Officer and a Counsellor.

The comfortable size of the College ensures that all students are well known.

Year 11 students are trained as mentors for younger students and play an integral part in anti-bullying measures.

The student voice is important and students were fully involved in choosing a new healthy catering contractor.

The food provided is nutritionally balanced in line with government guidelines.

Frogmore's ethos is to recognise and celebrate all sorts of achievements.

Students are assisted to raise their self-esteem and a formal and prestigious Awards and Celebration Evening is held annually.

A constant commitment towards the maintenance of high standards of student behaviour ensures that students are able to concentrate on their work without disruption.

There is a strong, structured and hierarchical discipline framework, with everincreasing responsibility for students and a traditional prefect system.

Frogmore offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities; an extensive number of after-school clubs and sporting activities and both cultural and active weekend and residential trips.

Music, dance and drama productions involve large numbers of students.

The College enters local competitions, including those involving public speaking, and gained prominence last year through winning a national science- based film-making competition.

Frogmore is a focal point for the local community, and provides a broad range of both academic and vocational adult education classes and is an accredited "Investor in People".

Last year, an average 80% of students achieved Level Five in English, Mathematics and Science at Key Stage Three and in GCSE, 56% of students achieved five or more grades at A* - C, which demonstrated good "added value".

The Key Stage Four students' average points score is very high in comparison with similar schools.

Post-16 students invariably obtain their first choice of university places and Oxbridge candidates are not unusual.
