End of an era as headteacher steps down

8/ 7/2008

It's the end of an era at Frogmore Community College  as headteacher Peter Green is set to retire at the end of this term.

Mr Green, who has led the school for eight years, will step down to concentrate on his wide portfolio of consultancy work.

However, there will be play along with the work as he intends to enjoy an occasional round of golf.

He said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Frogmore.

“It has been an incredibly warm and enjoyable place to work and has provided me with much fulfilment.

“The school is in a strong position to continue to move forward and I will leave with many, many fond memories. Frogmore students are the best.”

Taking his place at the start of the new school year in September is Sarah Howells.

She is an experienced headteacher who is moving from Oaklands Community School in Southampton school, where she had been for ten and a half years.

Mrs Howells has previously taught at a variety of schools in the south-east, including London and in Winchester, where she was a deputy headteacher. She currently lives in Andover and has two children of secondary school age.

She said: “I am delighted to be joining such a vibrant learning community and am looking forward to the exciting journey ahead of us.

“The wider community deserve the highest of standards in all aspects of college life, and that’s what we aspire to achieving.”

Chairman of governors Sue Stott thanked Mr Green for his efforts down the years.
She said: “The governors would like to pay tribute to all that Peter Green has achieved at Frogmore Community College.

“This was recognised by Ofsted in 2007 when they judged the leadership of the college to be outstanding and that it was a good and improving institution.

“We are sure his legacy will not be forgotten and wish him a very happy and fulfilling retirement.

“We are looking forward to working with Sarah Howells to continue to raise standards and care for the welfare of our students.”
