MANOR Junior school pupils and teachers have been on a marathon relay.

Following the success of staff members in the London Marathon, the whole school created its own marathon.

Every pupil as well as staff and governors ran a circuit of 116m so that by the end of the day the full 26.2 miles of a normal marathon had been covered.

"The children loved it and fully entered into the spirit of the day, as did all the staff," said head Mark Sammes at the school in Fernhill Road, Cove.

Through sponsorship of the London Marathon and the marathon relay the school will hopefully have raised approximately £4000 which will go towards developing the school grounds and sporting facilities.
