THESPIANS at Tomlinscote School & Sixth Form in Frimley starred in a "chilling and memorable" performance of Human Cannon by Edward Bond this week.

Human Cannon charts the struggle against Fascism in Spain during the 1930s and 40s through the stories of villagers in Estarobon, mainly Augustina and her family.

Background music and the movements of the actors gave the play a definite Spanish flavour.

The sixth formers and Year 11 students taking part had rehearsed for nine weeks.

A Tomlinscote spokeswoman said: "The students have risen to the challenging nature of the play and present a powerful and dramatic interpretation of Edward Bond's text.

"It is an ambitious and exciting play which requires the skills of the older students to communicate the struggle of the village effectively.

"The cast worked extremely well together, supporting each other on stage.

"Their performance, combined with the technical elements, made this an impressive production to see."
