HAMPSHIRE County Council chairman Peter Hutcheson protested this week that Hart has been practically frozen out of the new consultative committee for Farnborough Aerodrome despite the fact that Church Crookham borders on to the airfield and is on one of the direct flight paths.

Hart has been allocated just one seat on the 21 strong committee whereas Rushmoor gets three and even Ash Parish Council and Farnham Town Council get a seat. Hampshire and Surrey county councils and Surrey Heath complete the local authority line-up.

Other seats will go to North Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, Farnborough College of Technology and three local residents or interest associations. TAG, airport owners, will select a seven strong team to represent airport users.

An angry Coun. Hutcheson, who represents Crookham on both Hart and Hampshire councils, complained: "Hart has virtually been excluded despite the fact that the flight path comes over Crookham. I am amazed at this because it seems that the three Rushmoor representatives are being specified to come from wards at the end of the runway."

But Richard Short, Rushmoor's Planning Policy and Conservation Manager said Rushmoor Cabinet had approved a committee of a workable size. Hart might also be represented through some of the local interest groups.
