Sandhurst Town Council decided to subsidize a community bus to help groups in the town who wouldn't otherwise be able to afford transport.

The organisations, including after-school clubs, the WI and nursery groups, pay .85p a mile for use of the bus, under half the cost.

Peter North is seen handing over a cheque from Sandhurst Town Council to Fred Rule and Carol Marchant from the bus operators, who provide a driver. Also pictured are Coun John Mason and Ray Simmons, Sandhurst's pensioner champion.

The 16 seater bus can be hired for trips of up to 200 miles by contacting Chris Fisher at the council offices on 01252 879060.
