Frimley gymnast Amanda Russell-Lowe has won the National Challenge Cup for gymnastics.

Amanda, aged 16, competed at Aldershot to finish top after doing routines on the vault, the beam and the floor.

She is a member of Woking Gymnastic Club and the win was achieved despite a painful fall from the beam.

She also won a silver medal for her floor routine.

The win is a triumph of perseverance, as last year Amanda came fourth in the national contest, and in 1999 she came 15th.
