BUDDING artists headed to the council offices in Farnborough to receive awards for the Rushmoor in Bloom Painting Competition.

Over 60 children entered the competition, judged by members of the Rushmoor in Bloom Forum.

Winners from the five categories received certificates from the Mayor of Rushmoor, Coun. Brian Jupp, and prizemoney from the sponsor Clive Bryant from Butterfly Press, soon to be based in North Town, Aldershot.

Said the Mayor: "It was lovely to meet so many budding young artists and I am pleased to announce that Laura Winstanley, who won the Class 3 category, also won the "Best Poster Competition".

"This means her painting has been chosen to be on the front cover of the 2003 Rushmoor in Bloom brochure. Unfortunately she couldn't be with us at the presentation but we will be asking her to press the button to start the printing of the new brochure next year."
