A CAMBERLEY charity worker has published a book aimed at helping families who have children born with serious heart problems.
David Kinnear has written "Heart Children" with three other people, one an eminent paediatric cardiologist at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
He hopes the practical handbook will promote a better understanding of children born with a "hole in the heart" or similar defects.
One child in 125 is born with such a condition, and David says the news can have a frightening effect on the parents, and the youngsters themselves in later years.
He has published the book himself in order to keep it within a price range that most parents can afford.
David is a member of the HeartLine Association, a small national charity based at Surrey Heath Council's "Community Link" in Knoll Road, Camberley.
Completely updated since an earlier version in 1992, "Heart Children" contains information in clear non-medical language on the latest advances in technology and surgery.
Copies are available at £5 plus £1 p&p from the HeartLine Association. Proceeds will go towards supporting the Camberley-based charity's work with children with heart disorders.
