Fans of One Direction, The Beatles, Bob Marley and Green Day better book their tickets for Yateley’s annual music festival pretty quick.
The line-up for this year’s Gig on the Green was finally completed on March 11 and features top tribute acts With The Beatles, Trenchtown Experience, Only One Direction and Green-ish Day.
Headline act With The Beatles will replicate the magic of the Fab Four, belting out a full repertoire of famous songs from early tracks such as Please Please Me and Love Me Do right up to the likes of the seminal Hey Jude.
The popular music festival returns for a fourth year on June 28, featuring a line-up of regional bands, tribute acts and an opportunity for the under-18s to shine in its Y Factor competition.
The search to find the area’s most talented young people to take to the Gig on the Green stage starts with auditions at Yateley School in School Lane on April 26.
With three separate age categories, four finalists from each age group will be given the chance to perform live on the main stage in front of thousands of festival-goers.
Last year around 4,300 people attended – 800 more than the previous year – making it the most successful in the festival’s history.
This year organisers are expecting an audience of around 5,000.
The annual festival is organised by Yateley Sports CIC.
Its chairman Colin Ive said he was delighted with the progress the committee, made up entirely of volunteers, has made with the planning of this year’s extravaganza.
“We have some of the country’s top tribute bands in place with a cross section of music to suit all age groups,”he added.
“All in all it promises to once again be an outstanding event for our whole community to come along to and enjoy.
“As in previous years, all profits will be ploughed back into developing sports facilities in Yateley.”
Mr Ive said sponsorship is very important to the event and he thanked Romans Estate Agents for its continued support.
“In addition, new sponsorship from Hart Taxis has allowed us to provide even more opportunities for local musicians to perform,” he added.
“Another welcome sponsor is the Fleet and Camberley branches of McDonald’s which is sponsoring the Y Factor singing completion for children from school years 4 to 13.
“It’s a real chance for local singing talent to perform in front of around 5,000 people.”
Early bird tickets are now on sale via.
Prices have been held for the fourth year running, with adult tickets at £15 and children aged eight to 17 at £10.
