CAMBERLEY Police are hunting a "beauty and the beast" couple in a stolen car after a 29-year-old Ash man was slashed across the face with a bladed instrument in the slip road to the Homebase car park on Monday night.

The victim was taken to Frimley Park Hospital and later transferred to a London hospital for plastic surgery to his wound. His 25-year-old girlfriend suffered from shock.

The injured man was sitting in his BMW car talking to his girlfriend standing on the kerb when a Renault Clio pulled up behind him. The woman driver of the Clio sounded the horn and then got out of the car and grabbed the girl. The BMW driver got out of his car to help his girlfriend, whereupon a man emerged from the Clio and slashed him on the left side of his face.

The man is 5ft 8 ins tall, skinny and ugly. He had light brown spiky hair and looked pale and unhealthy. He wore a two-tone flecked jumper, possibly beige or brown and light blue jeans.

The woman was white, 5ft tall and pretty with long, straight brown hair. She had a strong Scottish accent and the blue Renault Clio Y887 HAU had been reported stolen in Scotland.

Police are warning the public not to approach the couple if they see them or the car. Anyone who can help should contact DC Ian Garthwaite or DC Karan Andrews at Camberley CID on 01276 27131. Or free calls can be made anonymously to Surrey Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
