Singer Brian McFadden met Farnborough's Noha after she lots 49kg in a year
A woman from Farnborough was congratulated on her weight loss by former Westlife singer, Brian McFadden, at the semi-finals of a national slimming competition.
Noha Baghdady, 37, earned a place at the semi-finals of Slimming World’s Woman of the Year 2013 competition after losing 7st 9.5lb (49kg) in a year.
Mrs Baghdady, of Fox Lane, was one of just 58 women from across the UK and Ireland who reached the semi-finals this month.
After joining the Hawley Slimming World group last September, Mrs Baghdady dropped from 17st 11lb (108kg) to 10st 1.5lb (63.5 kg).
After her inspirational transformation she was nominated by members of the group earlier this year to represent them in the annual Woman of the Year competition.
Mrs Baghdady said: "I love going to my group each week and I've made so many friends. If ever my motivation did start to fade, my consultant and the rest of the group were there to remind me how far I’d come.
"Thanks to them – and my weight loss – I’m slimmer but my smile is so much bigger."
After winning the regional heat of the Slimming World competition, Mrs Baghdady secured a place in the national semi-finals, putting her in the running to win the overall title ‘Slimming World Woman of the Year 2013’ and a once-in-a-lifetime holiday to Marrakesh.
Slimming World invited McFadden, 33, the recent star of ITV's Stepping Out, as a celebrity guest to make the day more special for the people taking part.
Lezley-Anne Irving, who runs the Hawley Slimming World group, said: "Noha doesn’t only look great on the outside, she’s a new woman on the inside too.
"Nowadays she’s unrecognisable from the shy, unhappy woman who walked into the group all those months ago.
"She’s happier, healthier and more confident, and her success is contagious as she’s inspired so many other people in the group.”
