Fleet Flower Club members were awarded a bronze medal at Chelsea Flower Show for their entry To Gaze and Wonder

Fleet Flower Club's entry in the Chelsea Flower Show, "To Gaze And Wonder"

Everything's coming up roses for a bunch of florists who won a bronze medal at the Chelsea Flower Show.

Fleet Flower Club members Dee Kelly, Becky Stevens, Bernice Blandford and Tracey Turkington were awarded the medal on Tuesday May 20 for their entry in the Floral Arrangements marquee. The theme was Sculpture In The Garden and their entry was entitled To Gaze And Wonder.

Becky, owner of local florist business Flowers By Becky, said the team was delighted.

“We are all so thrilled to have been awarded a bronze medal. It is a huge achievement for the club,” she said.

“For me it was the first time I have been involved in the Chelsea Flower Show and it was so exciting. Dee and I finished the design at 6am on Monday morning and we left it ready for the judges to come in.”

The outer caging was made of willow in six separate wands, while the centre was covered in moss, succulents and crespedia, laced with yellow calla lilies.

Local companies East-bridge Willows and Primal-scape Metalworks at Dog-mersfield Forge supplied materials for the display, which was sponsored by Berkeley Homes, the developers of the Edenbrook estate in Hitches Lane, Fleet.

The team will re-create the design so it can be displayed at Fleet Flower Club’s free annual show in the War Memorial Hall in Sandy Lane, Church Crookham, from from 11am until 3pm on Saturday July 12.
