MAY I take this opportunity, through your newspaper, to thank Jane Buller of Camberley who raised over £400 when she did a parachute jump in aid of the Meningitis Research Foundation.

I would also like to thank all those in the area who supported Jane by sponsoring her to take part in the jump. As the Meningitis Research Foundation relies almost entirely upon voluntary donations to fund its crucial work, we are extremely grateful for the support we receive from the public, and the money raised by Jane will be a valuable contribution.

Meningitis Research Foundation funds scientific research into meningitis and septicaemia — the blood poisoning and most life-threatening form of the disease — raises awareness of the diseases, and offers support through in-depth information and befriending to individuals and families affected.

Meningitis Research Foundation also operates a Freefone 24-hour helpline — 080 8800 3344 — that provides the general public and health professionals with information about meningitis and septicaemia, and offer support to those affected.
