WORK is starting this week on the demolition of the empty buildings on the Solartron site between Victoria and Invincible Roads in Farnborough.
Site owners Sainsbury say the buildings, which were vacated last summer, are starting to deteriorate and could be a potential security and health hazard to neighbours.
The planning application for a giant new B & Q store on the site has been passed by Rushmoor planners but is awaiting final determination by the Government.
Catherine Bulcock, Development Executive for Sainsbury, said the demolition work did not seek to pre-empt the Government decision and efforts would be made to keep disruption to a minimum. Demolition work will take place between 8 am and 6pm Monday to Friday and on Saturday mornings. There will be no work on Sundays or Bank Holidays. It is expected to last for about 12 weeks.
