A Farnborough man who was pronounced dead following a crash on the A331 died before the collision took place, it has been revealed.

Terry Connell was tended to by paramedics after his red Volkswagen Golf crashed into the barriers on the Blackwater Valley relief road near Aldershot at around 12.25am on Sunday July 13. He was taken to Frimley Park Hospital.

A post mortem revealed the 48-year-old had a heart valve defect called aortic stenosis, which caused him to die at the wheel before he crashed. No other vehicles were involved and no one else was hurt.

Having initially appealed for witnesses, Hampshire Constabulary confirmed no collision investigation was necessary. An inquest into the death is also not required.
