The Duke of Cambridge will present operational service medals to soldiers who recently returned from Afghanistan today (December 6).
Prince William, as colonel of the regiment, will give the soldiers of No.2 Company, 1st Battalion Irish Guards the medals during a company medals parade at Mons Barracks in Aldershot.
More than 100 soldiers returned from Helmand in October , following a six-month deployment on Operation Herrick. The Duke will meet with the recipients and their families during the event.
The Duke and his wife Kate Middleton spent the previous night at the London premiere of Mandela: The Long Walk to Freedom, only to learn of the former South African president's death at the end of the film about his life.
The Duke last visited Aldershot on official business in March to mark St Patrick's Day , accompanied on that occasion by the Duchess of Cambridge.
