Duo are winners at Crufts

A FLEET woman and her dog have won a top prize at Crufts.

Rita Scott and her three-year-old collie Kilo won the Sunday Inter-regional Competition for Obedience.

“The competition is quite like Come Dancing because the dogs have to do so many disciplines to perfection, such as heel walking and retrieves,” said Mrs Scott.

“I was absolutely shattered at the end of it all because it is such an exhausting thing to do and such a responsibility working in a team.

“Kilo has done so well because not only was he competing in the top class but he is only a baby at three years,” added Mrs Scott, who has been training her beloved pet since she got him at six and a half weeks old.

“I normally train Rottweilers so this is my first collie. But I’ve been training dogs for 20 years and I’m 68 so if I don’t know how to do it now I never will.”

Mrs Scott can be seen regularly training Kilo on the village green at the Elvetham Heath estate in Fleet where she has lived for two years.
