As everyone looks to the sky for the annual Farnborough Air Show , take a look at some of the best displays that stayed on the ground.

There were more than 40 different static displays during the famous public show on Saturday and Sunday.

These included a series of Airbus craft and a replica of main attraction the F-35B , whose counterpart wowed aviation enthusiasts on the first day of the show.

Also included in some of the static displays was a famous 1930s Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, which is the last US bomber to be found in Europe.

Another superb appearance came from a Tornado GR-4, which had been specially painted to commemorate 25 years since the Royal Air Force helped liberate Kuwait from Saddam Hussein’s forces.

The Gulf War 'desert pink' paint scheme honoured the aircraft type’s almost continuous operational service since then.
