A shop worker was left 'shaken' after a hooded robber burst into a Farnborough convenience store and made off with a large amount of cash.

At 6.20am on Wednesday morning the suspect approached a female employee at the the rear of the One Stop in Cove Road.

Hampshire Constabulary said the man, who was wearing a dark hooded top with the hood up and dark coloured trousers and gloves, then raided the store, stealing a large amount of money.

Officers were called shortly after and sealed off the shop.

A resident said: “It is sad that this has happened because I won't be able to do my shopping today, I know there's been shoplifting at the store but I haven't heard of anything like this.”

Shop owners and estate agents along the road were "surprised" by the incident and described it as a "very quiet shop".

Detective Constable Sue Champion said: “Fortunately the employee was not injured but the incident has left her quite shaken.
