NINE students from Farnborough College of Technology were surprised to find themselves joint winners of the prestigious Sky Scholarship Award 2003.
The students, pictured above, who are in the second year of their degree and HND media and television courses, were chosen to spend two weeks working at the television studios earlier this year.
They worked alongside the Sky team shadowing staff and getting involved in a whole range of activities including sound, lighting, vision mixing, presenting and editing on various broadcast programmes.
The award is usually given to one or two students who have been singled out as showing outstanding ability during the two weeks of work experience.
This year, Bob Wilkinson, Sky's Head of Production Services, explained: "We don't normally take this many students at one time, but all nine students were so good in their interviews we couldn't choose between them."When we came to decide who was to receive the award, we still couldn't choose so as we're celebrating a nine year partnership with the college, we decided the only answer was to give an award to each member of the team." Many former media students from Farnborough who have taken part in the Sky Awards are now working full time for Sky Television.
