A 58-year-old man from Fleet appeared in court on Tuesday charged with murdering his mother

A man charged with murdering his mother has appeared in court for the first time.

Geoffrey Hobbis, 58, from Brookly Gardens in Fleet, has been charged with the murder of his 79-year-old mother, Barbara Hobbis, on Saturday (May 31).

Hobbis was charged with murder on Monday (June 2) and appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates' Court on Tuesday morning.

He has been remanded in custody ahead of his next appearance at Winchester Crown Court on Thursday (June 5).
