Fleet's best-known one-man business is going out in a blaze of glory.

Owner Graeme Pullen said business at his furniture shop opposite Fleet Station has been booming ever since he announced last week in the Star that he will be shutting down on Feb 28. "The Star came out on the Thursday night and by Monday I had moved about 20% of my stock," he told us.

People who bought his reproduction furniture over the years have been ordering pieces to match. Nearly all of Graeme's goods are made in England and there is a 25 percent closing down discount.

"Prior to the story in the Star, business had been about as interesting as trying to find the end of a roll of sellotape, but no sooner had it hit the streets than the phone started going," said Graeme. He has other strings to his bow and once the shop is shut will concentrate on journalism for specialist fishing publications as well as looking after his property interests.

He said he realised it was time to rethink his business strategy when he earned £10 profit lugging concrete garden ornaments about and then spent £80 on an osteopath for a strained back! You can contact Graeme on 01252 615360.
