FEARS that current plans for housing in Hart, including the proposed mini-town at Church Crookham, may still not be enough to satisfy Government demands prompted Hart this week to consider an urgent review of housing building plans between now and 2011.

The recommendation by the council's Community and Environment Policy Review Panel comes in the wake of recent remarks by Deputy PM John Prescott and Hampshire County Council research showing that houses are not being built fast enough.

Hart spokesman Coun. Stephen Parker said that according to the latest Local Plan Hart did not need to release any further sites for the time being. Hampshire has stated it sees no need for Hart to release any identified reserve sites. However, the possible failure to produce enough houses according to the County Structure Plan has prompted the review recommendation.
