SIXTY-SIX Scouts and Explorer Scouts and 23 leaders from the Blackwater Valley District, covering Aldershot, Ash Vale and Farnborough, recently took part in a winter weekend camp at Gilwell Park, The Scout Association headquarters in Epping Forest.

Joining over 1600 Scouts from all over the country, they put up their tents in the dark and cold weather on the Friday evening. Waking up to a severe overnight frost, they enjoyed a hearty breakfast before taking part in a wide range of weekend activities, as pictured.

These included climbing, shooting, quad bike riding and a rollercoaster simulator. In the evening there was a film show and disco. The Scouts found an even more severe frost with a temperature of minus 10 degrees when they woke on the Sunday morning!

Allen Sayers, Assistant District Commissioner for Scouts, said: "They had an exciting weekend and enjoyed the challenge and achievement of camping in the winter conditions. Camping is not just a summer activity for Scouts."
