FIREMEN rescued an elderly horse from a ditch at Yateley where it had been wedged throughout Monday night. The 34-year-old brown horse was among a number grazing in a field by Reading Road.
The firemen from Rushmoor and Yateley used special kit to lift the horse free and it was then handed over to the care of its owner and a veterinary surgeon. The horse was discovered early on Tuesday morning and was freed in little more than three-quarters of an hour. It was suffering from hypothermia after its 12-hour ordeal.
