YOUNGSTERS from an Irish dancing school based in Aldershot are celebrating a taste of national success.

The Dunlop Academy of Irish Dancing scooped seven titles at the Great Britain Irish Dancing Championships in Maidenhead.

Solo performers took the top spots in the under-11, under-13, under-14, under-17 and over-17 jig championships.

The academy, which meets regularly in Aldershot, also tasted glory in the team over-13 ceilidh championship and the over-11 figure dancing championship.

It is the third year running that the academy has taken the latter award.

Leader Lynn Dunlop said: "Winning the first time isn't too bad. It's winning again and again that's the hard part."

More than 800 young dancers from across Great Britain took part in the championships.
