THE family of murdered Amanda ‘Milly' Dowler this week launched a charity in her name aimed at promoting personal safety for young people.
Its object is to provide training and education to teachers, youth workers, children and young people so that they can gauge risk and protect themselves without being frightened to develop independence.
It will initially concentrate on those in their early teens like Milly. It was launched following Tuesday's memorial service for the murdered schoolgirl held at Guildford Cathedral. Cheques payable to "Milly's Fund" can be sent to Milly's Fund, PO Box 470, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, KT12 3XZ.
Detectives are still continuing their painstaking search around the area of Yateley Heath Wood where her body was found three weeks ago. The main Yateley - Fleet Road will remain closed for some time yet. Surrey Police said DNA sampling on a tooth had proved inconclusive but it was hoped to positively identify Milly's remains at a post mortem tomorrow (Fri). The inquest will be opened at Woking next Friday (Oct 17).
