A FLEET teenager is swapping the gymnasium for the catwalk as she aims for a successful career as a jet-setting model.
Julie Parker, 19, wants to travel the world after tasting success in a competition with cosmetic giant L'Oreal.
The former Court Moor School pupil was working in Fleet's Fitness First when she was approached by a partner of Ash Hairdressing in Farnham.
"He has a lot of contacts with the top agencies and asked me if I wanted to do some modelling," said Julie.
"I did a competition for L'Oreal, which included a catwalk and really enjoyed it.
"I went up to London a few weeks ago and saw some agents and now I am waiting to see what they can find for me.
"I finish college in a few weeks time so I hope to go into modelling full time and travel the world doing it."
Julie joined Hart Gymnastic Club nine years ago and has won a string of county medals and trophies.
She has since stopped competing but still helps coach the youngsters.
Christina Curran, head coach at Hart Gymnastic Club, said: "Julie is so stunning and tall. We've been telling her for years that she could be a model but she's never really been interested."
But that has now changed. "After doing the competition I realised I could go a lot further," said Julie.
