CHILDREN at Belle Vue Infant School in Aldershot spent an action-packed day testing out their home-made skateboards.

As part of their school project called ‘On the move’, the pupils have been exploring different modes of transport and their mechanisms.

Michelle Povey, graduate teacher at the school said: “We’ve been reading story books on movement and looking at constructing their own vehicles, which led to them building their own skateboards.”

The year one and two pupils have had a visit from the army with several high-powered vehicles including a jeep that can go underwater and a motorbike which is still a prototype.

Ms Povey added: “Baron’s in Farnborough kindly lent us a flashy BMW Z3 Roadster car which the children could look at.

“This project engages their curiosity and stimulates their interest in the subjects.”

The pupils have been working on the extensive project since the beginning of term and are due to finish next week.
