A DEVELOPER has been given the go ahead to build two blocks of flats at Farnborough's western gateway.

Flavia Estates' blueprint for the land in Victoria Road has been welcomed by Rushmoor Council planners.

They agreed that the proposal to build 26 flats opposite Victoria Road cemetery would improve an "important landmark site".

The scheme will involve demolishing a single storey flat roofed building and a two-storey office block.

Flavia Estates has agreed to pay a £22,894 "sweetener" to the council as part of the planning agreement.

The money will be used to help pay for open space in the area.
