Motorist drives off after hitting baby in pram

Police appeal for sale shoppers who may have seen motorist who failed to stop after colliding with a baby in a pram

A pram containing a baby was hit by a car in Farnborough, with the driver failing to stop after the collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which occurred between 6pm and 7pm on Saturday (December 28) in Farnborough Gate Retail Park car park, in particular to a person who tried in vain to get the driver to stop.

A man and a woman were walking in the car park with their baby who was in a pram, when a dark-coloured car, possibly a blue Ford Focus, collided with the pram causing the wheel to buckle.

The driver of the car, described as a white man with dark hair aged between 18 and 23, drove off without making any attempt to stop.

PC Campbell Patrick from Aldershot police station said: "The retail park was very busy at the time of the incident with sale shoppers and I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident.

"A member of the public did attempt to stop the driver as he left the car park but was unsuccessful. If you were this person please contact the police."

Anyone with information should call PC Patrick at Aldershot police station on 101.
