POLICE are searching for a robber who tried to snatch a woman's shoulder bag at Mytchett.

The 36-year-old victim was walking along Mytchett Road when the thief pounced from behind.

He grabbed hold of the bag strap but the frightened woman held on to it. After a brief struggle her attacker ran off, leaving her shocked but otherwise unhurt.

Judy Williams, Camberley police press officer, said: "It was a terrifying experience for the woman.

"She was told not to look round during the incident, so she has been unable to give us a description of the offender." All she could tell police was that the man had a rough London accent.
