A FLEET businessman is preparing to run the London Marathon as Wonder Woman.
John Wood will don the outfit, donated by the Giggles fancy dress hire shop in Fleet, for Sunday’s prestigious race.
He hopes to raise more than £2,000 for the Naomi House children’s hospice at Sutton Scotney, near Winchester.
But why the Wonder Woman outfit?
“I had a fancy dress party at the beginning of the year and there were about 70 people wearing all sorts of outfits,” said John, 40, of Elvetham Road, Fleet.
“The Wonder Woman outfit was chosen as the best one so I went for that.”
John, who recently sold his telecoms business MNS Limited, is looking forward to the challenge.
“I ran the marathon last year but got injured in pre-training,” he said.
He hopes to complete the race in less than four hours. A member of North Hants Golf Club, he is also a director of Third Division AFC Bournemouth, the football club he has supported since he was eight.
He is married to Sara and the couple have a son Jake, 13, who attends Calthorpe Park School, and a daughter Mimi, nine, who goes to Heatherside Junior School.
