ALLDERS' Camberley store is to undergo a major refurbishment - both inside and out.
The company, which is at the centre of a takeover battle, intends to transform the building into an "Allders' Home" store.
It will sell home furnishings rather than the present mix which includes clothes and fashion accessories.
This week the company was still finalising exact details of its plans for the building, which stands at the High Street-Obelisk Way junction.
John Silvester, Surrey Heath Council planning chief, said the council was working closely with Allders to make sure the face-lift is a success.
"They are hoping to submit a planning application shortly, and we want to make sure an attractive solution can be achieved," he added.
Coun Gordon Parris, corporate portfolio holder, described the proposed refurbishment as a "positive move".
"It will reinforce the enhancements planned for west of Park Street and help achieve a balanced town centre," he said.
