CAMBERLEY'S landmark white elephant site is set for a major transformation.
Plans have been drawn up to replace the present hotchpotch of buildings with a landscaped business campus. The listed concrete white elephant, which stands alongside the main A30 road, is scheduled to be re-sited as part of the landscaping work. In a report, Surrey Heath Council planning officials say the redevelopment will provide a "significant visual improvement to the Yorktown estate." They add that the proposed four office blocks, each with four storeys, will be of high quality and will take the site upmarket. The scheme, drawn up by Coal Pensions' Properties Ltd, is to be considered this month.
